Montessori School has Chance of Winning the White House Race to the Top

From the American Montessori Society:

Voting Now Open for White House’s Race to the Top Commencement Challenge

Last week, we shared the exciting news that Clark Montessori [where Inly Middle School teachers did their training!] is one of six finalists in The White House’s Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge—and you can take part in the voting! President Barack Obama will select a winner from the top-ranked finalists, and speak at the school’s graduation exercises. The winner will be announced in early May.

Voting is open today, April 26, 8 a.m. EST–Thursday, April 29, 11:59 p.m. EST.

To vote:

1. Log onto the White House’s Web site: www.whitehouse.gov/commencement

2. View films (and read short statements) from each of the finalists

3. Follow the directions for rating the schools according to how well they meet the specified challenge criteria

Of course, we’re hoping that Clark, the nation’s first public Montessori high school, will win—but no matter what happens, we know that the attention brought to Clark Montessori from this project will go a long way in serving Montessori schools and programs worldwide.
